This is me, and my Administrator, my very intelligent & sweet niece, Felicia.
To me, art is born from passion, belief, creativity, and expression — strengthened by the discipline to complete the piece, no matter how vast or demanding it may be. Together, these elements shape the aesthetic soul, the story, and the majesty with which it is shared.
Ralph’s artistic training began at the age of eight and continued through sixteen under the tutelage of his brother, Oscar Ruiz, a Fine Arts major from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Early on, it became clear that Ralph possessed extraordinary artistic talent.
This artistic development became especially important because Ralph was less mobile than other children after being stricken with polio at the age of one. Despite those challenges, his family played a profound role in shaping his life and character.
His brother, Ben Ruiz, Adhawks, LLC, introduced him to the retail advertising business, which later evolved into a successful corporate design career. His sisters, Isabel and Stella, encouraged his intellectual growth through the literary works of John Steinbeck, Ayn Rand, Isaac Asimov, and many other great writers. His brother Dion instilled in him toughness and endurance.
Above all, Ralph’s mother and father enriched his life with unwavering love -- especially his mother, Felicitas.
MADE IN AMERICA
Ralph’s life was profoundly shaped by the polio clinics at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas, where he underwent corrective surgeries. With the aid of leg braces and crutches, he was able to participate fully in the opportunities offered by America’s society and culture.
Because of the extraordinary care he received early in life from the healthcare workers of Texas, Ralph proudly considers himself “Made in America.” In gratitude, he strives to give more than 100% to every client and every inspired artwork he creates — as a tribute to God, the Great People of Texas, and the United States of America.
Ralph was born in Los Angeles, California, but considers himself a Texan.
One of the greatest joys in an artist life is discovering another family member who is also gifted beyond measure, artistically in so many ways, and that is my ever-so-talented granddaughter, Katherine - here we are proofing the color, and accuracy of a print – and it passed inspection!
